Great location, lovely Cabin room.

Location is great: in the middle of the centre, close to York Minster and a few minutes away from all main streets, shops and restaurants. I had the room called The cabin, so much room and comfort with a nice view. York can get very cold and the heather in the room and the bathroom can be regulated by the guest at any time and will make the room very warm. Shower was great both in terms of temperature and pressure. Also, the team is extremely kind and communicating with them was easy and fast.

I really appreciated that they provided earplugs… unless you are a heavy sleepers you will need them. You will hear music from close restaurants and in the morning you might hear deliveries. Also, rooms are on a high floor: be ready to climb your luggage’s without lift.

Room was gorgeous. Service fantastic - communication was perfect, all instructions very clear. Location ideal.

Location is above a night club so was louder than I expected (on a Saturday), but they thoughtfully provided earplugs!

Location was perfect

NOISE THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!! Right on top of a club! Thumping music until 4.30a.m. both Friday and Saturday!!! When we saw the complimentary ear plugs we had an idea what we were in for.

You'll have a nice time and a good night sleep, smack in the centre of York

Self-check in was very easy, and the email was very self explanatory and well structured for a stressed traveller. Location is insanely central, and the room had a tiny view of the minster :) The room was cosy and small, but it had many surfaces, lots of hanging space, and anything you could really want. Very clever use of space! Noise wise it was quiet, but I stayed during the week, the room however did point into a back area so I'm sure it would have been a peaceful sleep regardless. Cleanliness was surprisingly good. These cleaners go to town on these rooms. I'm easily grossed out but these rooms were actually fine, which I don't often feel for the price I travel at. Appreciated how many hangers were provided. Appreciated how many towels were provided. Appreciated how generously it was heated, it was nice and warm! They also had snacks and sparkling water which was very appreciated! All in all on my list for York stays.

This is just my personal opinion and I would never tell anyone not to stay here because of this. This is a nice place! In a small room I feel like the extra decorative cushions are just things people take off the bed and take up space. So do fake plants, and the huge fan during the winter times could be stored elsewhere. Although I was very impressed how clean the fan was! Didn't look like it had any dust on it. Whoever is cleaning those rooms is amazing at their job. I would have liked a cup in the bathroom to brush my teeth and flush my mouth out, again not a dealbreaker, I used the sparkling water bottle. And this is the harshest bit of criticism, again, this is a value stay; I think the flooring and the tiles in the bathroom could need updating. Finishing on a positive note again, this is a very good place.

Excellent location!

Excellent location.

There were no staff. I booked a twin room and got a double. There were only two hangers to hang up clothes. No glasses to drink water from. No tea or coffee facilities in the room.

Worth it simply for the location which is the biggest plus

The location is superb being right in the centre of life in York, a few minutes from boutique shops, the Minster, the Shambles and many other places visitors might wish to go. I have to admit that the photos and description did not prepare me for the external look of the place nor the internal decor of the public areas (trendy maybe? but not for all tastes) - ie, the entrance way and the stairwell, nor for the kitchen situated on, I think, the second floor; this struck me as being more like a hostel. Having said that, the graffiti-style artwork was not unattractive and didn't materially affect our stay and the kitchen (with tea, coffee and milk supplies) was useful. The room was a fair size, the room decor was pleasant, the beds quite comfortable, the bathroom adequate and, apart from Sunday night, it was quiet. We arrived expecting a self check in situation but were kindly helped to our room by one of the staff in Kennedy's - the restaurant next door associated with the hotel.

The room was very hot and, on Sunday night, very noisy with loud music coming from the bars and restaurant below the hotel so we couldn't open the windows. To be fair, the noise did not extend much beyond midnight but I wouldn't book to stay there from Wednesdays to Sundays as it would presumably be similar every night. However, Monday and Tuesday nights were quiet. A fan was provided for the twin room on the top floor but it was too large, powerful and noisy for us so we put up with the heat. In the sizeable and potentially good bathroom there were no hooks, the towel rail was on the opposite side of the room from the shower and the shower was boiling hot - almost too hot to bear even on the cold setting (unless I wasn't doing something I should have). The basin was tiny with only the smallest of shelves to put a washbag down on and the bathroom door closed with a simple ball-bearing closure with no lock - not that important but a bit odd. Finally, if they are being provided anyway, I would prefer tea and coffee making facilities within the room rather than having to go down (or, I guess, up, depending) one flight of stairs. The price paid was not extortionate but a bit dear for what you actually got.

What was the highlight of The Fort

Gorgeous, modern, well organised and great for exploring York on foot.

Perfect apartment right in the city. Great for exploring York and having a handy base. The host was really pleasant and helpful (and told us about a good car park). The apartment was absolutely spotless, neat and tidy with modern furnishings, and the fully equipped kitchen had everything we needed - even a pint of milk! With the living/dining room as well as the bedroom, there was plenty of space if we wanted it.

Only a few minor things - overall the place was ideal. The automatic light in the apartment hall only triggered immediately after a small step (when going from the bedroom end of the hall), so it was easy to trip in the dark. The TVs weren't receiving any channels (although were listing the programmes that were on) and couldn't be paired to an android phone, just an Apple one. Would have been good to have a teatowel in the kitchen, and a rollerblind on the kitchen window - both for privacy and to adjust the light coming in. There's no car access to that part of the city, so had to carry luggage about 10mins from car park spot - but that's the nature of York and this was a great location.

The location was excellent - although the street musician playing at Midnight was a bit loud. We were grateful to receive an upgrade and thought the flat was very well laid out.

A very fun apartment in a great location with old world character.

This is an apartment in the middle of old town York and the location couldn't be better. The staff were based out of the restaurant/pub next door and were so helpful and friendly. It's an older building with character with bedroom, living room, and kitchen. Small bath arrangement but functional. It was quiet for such a central location. A very fun and funky place to stay.

Its an old building with lots of character like old wood floors and small bath sinks up a flight of stairs between restaurants, but this is part of what made it a fun place to stay.

Fantastic stay in the centre of beautiful York

Location was fantastic, everything on your doorstep. Staff very friendly, especially Andy. We had a lovely stay at the Fort in one of their apartments.

Only criticism I have is the sofa in the living room, it wasn’t very comfortable to sit on.
